In Kazakhstan, the gas production has increased by 17% per year

According to the results of 8 months, the volume of gas production in the liquid or gaseous state reached in value terms 123.4 billion tenge, 10.2% more than in the same period a year earlier, - the Energyprom reports.

In volume terms production of natural gas has reached 35.3 billion cubic meters, which is by 17.3% more than in the same period a year earlier. 19.7 billion cubic meters of which was accounted for by associated petroleum gas and another 15.4 billion cubic meters - for natural gas in the gaseous state (with a commercial output of 8.6 billion cubic meters). The West Kazakhstan Region ranks first among the regions for 13.8 billion cubic meters of gas, 13.5 billion cubic meters of which is natural gas in the gaseous state.

According to the Vice-Minister of Energy Magzum Mirzagaliyev, over the years of independence, the level of gas production in the Republic of Kazakhstan has increased more than fivefold, to more than 46 billion cubic meters in 2016. The expected average annual growth rate of production from 2016 to 2040 is at a level of 4%.

The bulk of natural gas production is provided by large fields such as Karachaganak (49%), Tengiz (31%) and Kashagan (14%). In the future, as the production of liquid hydrocarbons, these large oil and gas fields will gradually move into the gas category, which provides for them a large gas production.

Today, Kazakhstan ranks 22nd in the world and 3rd among CIS countries behind Russia and Turkmenistan for confirmed reserves of natural gas. The recoverable gas reserves are approved at the level of 3.9 trillion cubic meters, including 2.6 trillion cubic meters of the associated gas reserves and 1.3 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

About 30% of the produced gas is used for domestic needs, 30% - for export, the remaining volumes are pumped back into the reservoir to maintain reservoir pressure in order to increase the extraction of liquid hydrocarbons, and are used by subsoil users for their own technological needs.

Last year, 88.5% of housing stock was provided with gas (including liquefied gas) in the country, while in cities - 83.3%, and in villages - 97.4%. The number of gasified settlements reached 945 - by 2.1% more than a year earlier. The best performers were the West Kazakhstan Region (231 settlements), Zhambyl Region (164 settlements, + 1.2% per year) and South Kazakhstan Region (151 settlements).

The length of gas networks was 26.3 thousand kilometers.

Tariffs for natural gas, transported through distribution networks, increased on average by 4.8% per year in the Republic of Kazakhstan, to 17.05 tenge per cubic meter.

The liquid gas, transmitted through distribution networks, went up by 4.3% year-on-year, to 142.93 tenge per 1 kg.

The liquid gas in cylinders went up by 13% at once, up to 2556 tenge per 50 liters.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the gas tariff in the regions is comprised of the wholesale price of gas and the influence of the so-called "investment tariff". More than 60% of all gas in the country is bought for currency. Accordingly, due to the tenge adjustment, the price of gas has increased. However, the "KazTransGaz Aimak" National Operator in the field of gas supply has not yet shifted its losses to the population. The second order tariff is the prices for distribution networks. In some regions of Kazakhstan, there is an "investment tariff", i.e. the "KazTransGas Aimak" in consultation with the population, invests its money in gasification (this work is being actively carried out, for example, in Kyzylorda, Aktobe and South-Kazakhstan Regions).
